  • Wombling in Crossgar

    Mon 22 Jun 2026

P5/6 were out and about today helping to keep our village looking its best, joined by some of our fantastic Eco Committee members.

A huge thank you to Declan from Crossgar Community Association for organising the session and providing the litter pickers and bags. Your support makes such a difference.

Our pupils loved doing their bit for the environment and our local community and enjoyed a well‑earned play at the playpark afterwards. Great teamwork and great community spirit. 💚♻️

  • Celebrating our Coding and Computational Thinking Efforts

    Fri 19 Jun 2026

A few weeks ago, Mrs English and Mr Milligan visited the SSE Arena to join other schools taking part in the Create Partnership Programme. Mrs English proudly showcased the fantastic work our Glasswater classes have been doing, presenting it to fellow partnership schools, the team from Nerve Centre, political representatives and Northern Ireland Screen.

We were delighted to receive a certificate recognising our achievements in coding and computational thinking. An incredible celebration of our pupils’ creativity and hard work.

  • 📱Digital leaders grand day out!

    Wed 17 Jun 2026

🚍Our Digital Leaders enjoyed a fantastic trip to Belfast today!
During their visit to the Apple Store, they learned all about the products available and discovered the wide variety of roles carried out by the store team. They also took part in a GarageBand workshop, where they explored digital music creation, designing their own loops and experimenting with mixing different sounds. The pupils thoroughly enjoyed the hands-on experience and showed great creativity throughout the session.
A huge thank you to Donna and Aaron for their support and guidance during the visit.
Afterwards, we enjoyed lunch in CastleCourt Food Court before taking a walk through the city to Grand Central Station. Of course, there was time for a little detour to enjoy an ice lolly along the way! 🍭
It was a wonderful day of learning, creativity and fun, and our Digital Leaders represented the school brilliantly.

  • Interactive AI Workshop

    Fri 08 May 2026

💻Our Key Stage 2 pupils today enjoyed an engaging workshop led by Donna and Danny from Nerve Centre on behalf of Ofcom. The session encouraged pupils to think critically about images and videos, exploring how to spot content that may have been created using AI.
A favourite activity was the game “Is it real or is it fake?”, which sparked lots of lively discussion and thoughtful debate. Pupils then had the opportunity to use Adobe Express to design their own images based on creative, fictional criteria—resulting in plenty of laughter and enjoyment!
The adults were truly impressed by the pupils’ understanding of AI, particularly as they shared how they are already using it safely at home and in games.

  • We have the right to play!

    Wed 06 May 2026

PlayBoard Our Generations Session 2 for P5/6 -ME and My Connections Session 2 focused on our close connections, like friends, family and people who help to keep us happy and safe. When we are finding it difficult to deal with emotions, these are the people we can trust to help us. Today we looked at how we can build RESILIENCE, by thinking about our own coping strategies and how developing EMPATHY can help to keep our connections strong. Having an INgroup is really great, it helps us to feel safe, and we always have something to talk about. It is also really important to know that even in our groups, everyone is different and brings different values and perspectives. It’s good to have things in common, but it’s great to be unique! In our activities today we all got to build our own ‘Tame it Toolkits,’ full of really great items to help us cope with big emotions. Did you know that blowing bubbles is really useful to help you get your heart rate and breathing back under control? We got to play with loose parts again this week. Loose parts are mostly free and found materials, quite often things that just go in the recycling bin, but for us they are a chance to negotiate, problem solve, consider construction and dimensions, work in a team, be creative and take control of our freedom to build and design whatever we want!
