  • Interactive AI Workshop

    Fri 08 May 2026

💻Our Key Stage 2 pupils today enjoyed an engaging workshop led by Donna and Danny from Nerve Centre on behalf of Ofcom. The session encouraged pupils to think critically about images and videos, exploring how to spot content that may have been created using AI.
A favourite activity was the game “Is it real or is it fake?”, which sparked lots of lively discussion and thoughtful debate. Pupils then had the opportunity to use Adobe Express to design their own images based on creative, fictional criteria—resulting in plenty of laughter and enjoyment!
The adults were truly impressed by the pupils’ understanding of AI, particularly as they shared how they are already using it safely at home and in games.

  • We have the right to play!

    Wed 06 May 2026

PlayBoard Our Generations Session 2 for P5/6 -ME and My Connections Session 2 focused on our close connections, like friends, family and people who help to keep us happy and safe. When we are finding it difficult to deal with emotions, these are the people we can trust to help us. Today we looked at how we can build RESILIENCE, by thinking about our own coping strategies and how developing EMPATHY can help to keep our connections strong. Having an INgroup is really great, it helps us to feel safe, and we always have something to talk about. It is also really important to know that even in our groups, everyone is different and brings different values and perspectives. It’s good to have things in common, but it’s great to be unique! In our activities today we all got to build our own ‘Tame it Toolkits,’ full of really great items to help us cope with big emotions. Did you know that blowing bubbles is really useful to help you get your heart rate and breathing back under control? We got to play with loose parts again this week. Loose parts are mostly free and found materials, quite often things that just go in the recycling bin, but for us they are a chance to negotiate, problem solve, consider construction and dimensions, work in a team, be creative and take control of our freedom to build and design whatever we want!

  • Descendants of the founder of the first primary school in Crossgar visit Glasswater

    Fri 24 Apr 2026

On Wednesday, we were delighted to welcome Councillor Callum Bowsie to our school, accompanied by Rev. Dr. Heather Walker from First Kilmore (Rademon) Non-Subscribing Presbyterian Church. They were joined by Eric and Toni, who were visiting from the United States.

Eric and Toni are descendants of Rev. Neilson of Rademon Church, who founded Crossgar Primary School in 1826. Our P5/6 class has been learning about the history of Crossgar, and Councillor Bowsie had previously shared his knowledge about the very first school in the area during a visit to speak with the pupils.

It was a pleasure to meet the descendants of the man who established the first primary school in Crossgar and to bring history to life for our pupils.
