P2 have been thinking about the characters and settings we find in Fairy Tales.
We were excited to meet a lovely little lamb today. Thanks to Issy’s mum for bringing him in to visit. The children were not at all nervous and learnt lots of fascinating facts. #smallschoolbigheart
P1/2 have had a ball over the last few weeks with our amazing SUC student Naomi Elwood. We have loved our investigations and experiments, stories and lots of exciting learning experiences based around Spring and Easter. Miss Elwood has captured the hearts and imaginations of the children and they are going to miss her. Today we finished with a lovely picnic. Thank you for everything! #smallschoolbigheart
Thanks to Chloe’s mum for bringing in the fluffiest and cutest little chicks into school. We learnt lots of fascinating facts and would have liked to keep them as class pets. #smallschoolbig heart
P1/2 have had a great day celebrating World Book Day. We dressed up, brought in amazing potato characters and listened to stories. We also used the language of Sam McBratney, our author of the month, in our Mothers’ Day cards. Thanks to Mrs Corbett for organising. #smallschoolbigheart
We noticed a lovely blossom tree on our Spring Hunt yesterday so we decided to do some blossom art with paint and on the SMARTBOARD. Great job everyone!
Our new topic is Look what is growing! We had a Spring Hunt around the village and spotted lots of signs of Spring. We had a little stopover at the play park of course!
We enjoyed some Christmas activities this week including our Santa mile a day.
P1/2 enjoyed fundraising for Pudsey today.
We are enjoying our new topic called Light and Dark. This week we are thinking about the sun, moon and stars and have been going on some space adventures as well as exploring 2-D shapes and symmetry.

Our creative, resourceful and simply amazing PTA brought our Pumpkin Patch inside. There is lots of excitement here as we get to choose our pumpkins 🎃 We will take them home later so we can carve them over the weekend. #smallschoolbigheart.

P1/2 have enjoyed their September indoor and outdoor play. We also have a new SMART board and it’s amazing! #smallschoolbigheart
It’s #WorldMathsDay and P1/2 have been very, very busy. P2 made some 2D shape monsters and P1 made monster masks with kits our PTA had bought us. We counted in 2s and heard the story of Noah. Granny D brought in some beautiful lambs so we heard a story about a man who had 100 sheep and P2 counted to 100. We all had a go at the World Mathletics challenge and one boy was ‘top of the leader board’. We learnt how to play dominoes and made monsters with cubes and cuboids. What a fantastic day! #smallschoolbigheart

We raised some money for Children in Need 2022 by coming to school in our pyjamas. Some of us got some Pudsey spots too. We enjoyed a late breakfast and lots of children had some toast with their chocolate spread 😂. A great day for a great charity #smallschoolbigheart #childreninneed2022
P1/2 have enjoyed the story of The Gingerbread Man this week. We learnt about speech marks and speech bubbles, and ordered different sizes. We have counted, added and subtracted with characters from the story as well as P1 making collage gingerbread people with different materials. We have thought about the clever, cunning fox and made some rafts so that he couldn’t eat the little gingerbread. Today we decorated, and ate, some gingerbread men - delicious.
P1/2, and lots of our children, brought in their pumpkins as part our Harvest celebrations. On Thursday we put them in our playground so everyone could see what a talented bunch we are! #smallschoolbigheart
#BookWeekNI is an initiative celebrating the pleasures and benefits of reading. Now in its seventh year, #BookWeekNI encourages everyone to visit their local library to read.
Today P1/2 visited their favourite library, our beautiful Glassroom. P1 enjoyed opening their special book from Book Trust.

It’s Maths Week Ireland and P1 have been exploring pattern by making a safer wall for Humpty. They also made some incredible pictures with the 2D shapes. P2 were matching Autumn objects with our new Numicon and using money to buy some delicious fruit and vegetables.
