Celebrating Coding Week
This week all the pupils at Glasswater PS have been coding as part of Coding Week. We have been working on algorithms and programming and have been problem-solving through debugging. We have had lots of fun with our coding activities. We had human robots, we programmed and explored getting our Beebots to various locations. In Key Stage 2, pupils used Scratch Jr to create mini projects to allow their sprites to move within different locations and scenes. Some pupils added audio and created their own scenery and sprites. Everyone across the school had lots of fun using mathematical language.
After some very persuasive speeches, the votes have been counted and our Year 7 House Captains have been elected for 2025/26. They are ready to encourage and inspire their fellow pupils to work hard, to be kind and respectful, to make healthy choices, to follow our School rules and to always do their best! They hope that lots of house points earned throughout the year will result in them winning the House Cup.....I wonder who the winner will be?
Congratulations to the successful candidates in today’s School Council elections who were voted for by their classmates to be the ’Pupil Voice’ in Glasswater this year. They are excited to get started and have lots of wonderful ideas to share with Mr Milligan and Mrs Gill!
We are so proud of all of our pupils who took part in today’s elections.

Our Year 5-7 footballers were delighted to take part in a friendly football tournament today wearing Glasswater’s brand new football kit. A massive thank you to our wonderful PTA for raising the funds so we could purchase the kit for our pupils to wear when they are representing Glasswater at sporting events. The pupils love it!
Well done to those who took part today-for showing excellent sportsmanship throughout. We are so proud of you!
Thanks to Mr McFerran and his squad of helpers for organising a great tournament and giving our pupils the opportunity to play against other local schools.

We were so delighted to find a surprise gift at our gates one morning. Mickey McClements had given us some absolutely beautiful planters which will brighten up John Street and our school gates. Thank you so much for your kindness and all that you do for the Crossgar community. #smallschoolbigheart
This morning, the pupils and staff were treated to fabulous performances from our school choir, ukulele group and guitarists. The singers and musicians did a great job as they filled our hall with music and joy! It was the perfect opportunity to wish a very special lady a very special happy birthday!
Our amazing secretary, Sara, celebrates her birthday over the holidays and we wish her many happy returns from the Glasswater school family. Super-organised, kind, helpful, caring, always smiling, thoughtful.....we are so appreciative of all that Sara does in our wee school!
Congratulations to all of our Diamond and Gold winners this term in Mathletics, and to our first Mathletics Legends of the year! We are very proud of you all boys and girls! Keep up the great work!
Our boys and girls in Years 5,6 and 7 enjoyed an afternoon in the gorgeous sunshine as they cheered on our teams against Killyleagh Integrated Primary and Nursery School and Cumran Primary School. Well done to all and thanks to Mr McFerran for organising!

We loved celebrating with our amazing pupils as they received their Headteacher awards this morning.
It’s Science Week this week, so what better time to start our after school Science Club with Chris from Eureka Seekers! The boys and girls loved it and can’t wait to go back next week for some more exciting experiments as they engage with the wonders of Science.
