Leavers’ Assembly 2022

Today, along with family and friends, we celebrated and said farewell to all the amazingly wonderful pupils in Year 7 with a special Leavers’ Assembly. Well done boys and girls-you are all superstars! 

All at Glasswater wish you well as you begin the next step of your school journey! We will miss you all and look forward to hearing all about BIG school! So be sure to stay in touch!

“We don’t want this day to end….”

When you hear these words you know it’s been a great day! Our Year 7s had an absolute blast today as they paddle-boarded and played laser tag at Strangford Lough Activity Centre. They finished off their day out at Delamont before returning to school for some chips!

Lots of smiles, laughter and fun featured as the boys and girls made memories with their classmates and friends.

Today it was the boys’ turn to display their hockey skills at a hockey blitz in Saintfield. Teamwork, great passing and moving, super defence and lots of goals…these boys represented our school so well! They are all superstars! 

Thanks to Saintfield Academy and Saintfield Hockey Club for organising this event. Our pupils have loved being able to play some hockey against other local schools.

Girls‘ Hockey Blitz at Saintfield

The girls did us proud today as they represented our school on the hockey pitch. They played really well, showing their skill and determination whilst encouraging and cheering each other on! Well done ladies! #smallschoolbigheart

Congratulations to one of our Year 7s who received the sacrament of confirmation last week. Thanks to Father Brendan for a lovely service and to Mrs Campbell for all her support in the preparation for confirmation.

Congratulations to our winners of the Eggs in the Jar! They correctly guessed 103 eggs. 

The School Councillors would like to thank all those who took part in this competition and helped raise a fantastic £111.10 to spend on some new resources for our school.

Today this team from Glasswater were delighted to play in the Grassroots Football Festival at Kilmore Playing Fields. They were excited to be back playing against other local schools and they did us all proud! They played so well and scored a fantastic 11 goals in 3 games, showing good sportsmanship throughout. Well done boys and girls ⚽️ A huge thank you to Mr McFerran and James for their expertise and coaching.

World Maths Day Mathletics Live Challenge

The class winners of the live Mathletics Challenge were announced today and were delighted to receive their awards. Congratulations to these superstars! 

Also a massive well done to each of our pupils from P1-P7 for taking part in this week’s challenge! We are proud of you all! 

Remember to log in to Mathletics each week and try to earn 1000 points for a bronze certificate! Mrs Gill is looking out for our next GOLD winners soon!

Big Birdwatch 2022

Years 5, 6 and 7 walked through the monastery this morning to do a spot of birdwatching for the RSPB’s annual Big Birdwatch. They saw and heard different species of birds and recorded their results for the Eco-Committee to collate and send in to the RSPB. Well done boys and girls.
